The Story of the 1000 Islands
Episode 4: The Golden Age
In partnership with: 1000 Islands History Museum, Town of Gananoque, Government of Canada
As the 19th century rolled on, Gananoque blossomed into a glamorous getaway. Wealthy visitors built sprawling summer homes, grand steamers ferried tourists by the thousands, and in this gilded age even American presidents came to stay in the Thousand Islands. With a touch of charm and a dash of scepticism, the Animazia team explores the opulence — and inequity — of this so-called "Golden Age," including a dramatic visit to the storybook-like Boldt Castle.
This MOM (Multimedia Outreach Module) video is the fourth in a series created in partnership with the Town of Gananoque, Government of Canada, 1000 Islands History Museum and Kidoons, in association with The 20K Collective.
